The Many Benefits of a Suspension Trainer

The suspension trainer is another MUST HAVE piece of equipment in your home. Even if you don’t have a home gym, it’s great to have because you can set it up anywhere, it’s easy to pack, and takes up very little space.

The most popular brand you’ll see is @trxtraining, however here I’m using a smaller company called @trufit and they are a staple with my clients in my gym.

This week I wanted to focus on the upper body giving you 6 movements to target the shoulders specifically.
The set-up here you’ll notice I’m always on my heels, keeping my toes up throughout the range of motion of each movement. This is to ensure I keep my weight back in order to maintain consistent tension in the straps. You do NOT want to stand completely upright and be flat footed at the top of the movement as this will not be effective.

Once you get your position down, these exercises are great at targeting the deltoids and rotator cuff while using your own bodyweight as resistance. If you struggle with shoulder mobility and stability and find yourself having trouble performing shoulder presses with a barbell or dumbbells, these will be your best bet until you are strong and healthy enough to start using heavy weights.
